Paul Quinn

Distinguished Engineer
Paul Quinn is a Distinguished Engineer and a lead architect for the Cloud and Network Solutions group at Cisco Systems. He is focused on evaluating and driving major technology advancements in the areas of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Currently he is responsible for the development of Cisco’s end-to-end service chaining architecture, ranging from protocol definition to open source and Cisco platform development. 

During his tenure at Cisco he has worked on a wide range of technologies including] platform security, video infrastructure, service provider architecture and next-generation data centers.  Paul’s research interests include service chaining, distributed systems architecture, and overlay networks. Paul has published several technical papers and holds nine U.S. patents (with 29 pending).

Paul is a frequent speaker at customer events, and industry and research conferences on a 
variety of networking topics. He is active in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Service Chaining Working Group. Paul holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Concordia University and an MBA from Boston University. 

Outside of work, Paul is an avid cyclist, runner and swimmer always training for the next big 
race in New England.
