Demo Theater: Automatically Solving Conflict Between SDN Applications Using Network Intent Composition (NIC) API - Raphael Amorin, Hewlett-Packard Networking SDN R&D
The Intent API is used by applications to specify desired network behavior  and provide an easy way for application writers to program the network without worry about network details and co-existence of other applications . This allows decoupling of applications from physical network changes and allow them not to react, or even be aware, of changes in the network topology or technology. This reduces the potential for conflict between multiple application and simplifies the life of SDN application developers. We will demo client applications that have some conflicts of interest. You will see NIC in action and how it resolves/handles conflicts without application developer changing the application.

In the demonstration we will outline the OpenSourceSDN Boulder Project, a project funded by ONF to start some tools around having the ability to write portable intent-based applications capable of leveraging different controller frameworks with the same grammar. This initial implementation, leverages the OpenDaylight NIC project and the Group-Based Policy component in order to showcase how intent applications can be written used exposed grammar and a scripting language.

Demo Theater: SDN - a Developer’s Perspective - Michael Zhu, HP and Michael Worlund, Kemp Technologies, Inc.
The real promise of Software Define Networking will be realized when SDN enables compelling solutions for customers that were not possible without it. The true metric of the value-add can be best judged in the availability of such compelling SDN Apps. The one stakeholder that will clearly influence the success of that metric is the Developer. This theatre session will be a highly interactive interview between a Developer – in this case a industry leading load balancing company – Kemp Technologies, Inc. and an SDN platform provider – HP Networking. The discussions will cover the role of controllers, tools , on-boarding processes, support to developers, Go-To-Market activities, current state of the industry ,future expectations and more.

Demo Theater: CableLabs & Inocybe: OpenDaylight's Virtual CPE Demonstration - Mufaddal Makati, CableLabs and Gabriel Robitaille-Montpetit, Inocybe Technologies
The Virtualized Business CPE proof-of-concept demonstrates the use of a proposed new OpenDaylight MD-SAL feature plug-in and northbound APIs developed by CableLabs and Inocybe to use OpenDaylight and its OVSDB southbound plug-in to configure a point-to-point Ethernet connection emulating Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service.  A laptop running Ubuntu Linux emulates a cloud server running OpenDaylight and the APIs and the two Raspberry Pis serve as hosts for Network Interface Device (NID) functionality at each of two customer locations. The Pis are each running an instance of Open vSwitch, which will be configured using Open Daylight and its OVSDB southbound plug-in.
