TSDR has been a missing component in the SDN architecture. ODL controller today collects OpenFlow (OF) stats, and stores them in an in-memory data store. This limits the ability to capture large scale time series data over the time and make it available to northbound applications. This also adds performance and scalability overheads to ODL. In the presentation we first cover the motivation behind the project and the value it brings to the ODL and SDN ecosystems. We then describe the generic, extensible, and elastic architecture of TSDR, which is designed to collect and store various types of time series data with plug-able persistence data stores to fit into different use cases. After that, we will show a demo using TSDR to collect OF stats and store into HBase. Finally, we will present the future directions of TSDR in data analytics and controller optimization in SDN and NFV domains.
