Manish will share real world legal, privacy, security and business policies implemented today in an enterprise datacenter. Moving forward, Software Defined Infrastructure needs to enable programmatic automation of policies dynamically and transparently including ability to enforce, audit and monitor. The abstract “high level” policy directives need to be translated and enforced at lower infrastructure API’s. As a community, we need to develop ability to 1) programmatically express high level policies 2) define right level of abstractions and granularity for expressing the policies and 3) create a framework for a modular vendor agnostic translation services for each of the infrastructure API’s. The second part of the presentation would include specific requirements for ODL and inputs on what’s missing and what is desirable in the area of policy implementations within ODL.
